They say you'd have to mad to run for politics. Well the closure of Mt Warning certainly has not done much for my mental health. I'm running as a Libertarian Party candidate in the Hornsby By-Election on October 19. If you live in the electorate and want to help out, get in touch.
Less Taxes. Less Red Tape.
Marc Hendrickx is a geologist and author and has lived in the Hornsby Electorate for over 20 years. With a background in regional mapping and engineering geology, he now runs a consultancy specialising in landslide risk assessment. He holds an MPhil from Macquarie University and is an advocate for public access to natural sites, running the "Right To Climb" blog and serving as President of Save our Summits Association. His books "A Guide to Climbing Ayers Rock" and "A Guide to Climbing Mt Warning" may be purchased through Connor Court Publishing.
Marc has been an active member of the Berowra RFS for nearly a decade and was awarded the National Emergency Medal for his efforts during the 2019-20 bushfire season. Passionate about the outdoors, he enjoys bushwalking, climbing, and mountain biking.
Marc believes the people of Hornsby deserve better representation—someone who prioritises their needs over political ambitions! He is committed to cutting government waste, reducing taxes, and focusing on core services like transport, education, health, and affordable utilities. With a practical, no-nonsense approach, Marc aims to give people more control over their lives, free from political interference and agendas. It’s time Hornsby had a fresh face, and not another Matt Kean clone!
We've got a fella (Matt Kean) who's left the parliament to take a job with the Labor party, and he thinks he can hand-pick a Kean clone to go into the seat. I just think that's wrong...

Key Issues for Hornsby
- Improving Infrastructure for Growth
Poor planning has led to population growth along major corridors in the electorate without adequate supporting infrastructure like roads, schools, and recreational areas. It’s time to plan correctly and halt inappropriate developments that are ruining our community. I will advocate for the government to allocate funds for a 30-year grassroots plan focused on sustainable growth based on community values. - New High School for Our Community
The Mt Colah – Berowra – Brooklyn area urgently needs a new high school to cater to our growing population. Current options are too far away, forcing our kids to spend more time commuting rather than learning. - Upgrading Major Road Corridors
Many of our major road corridors are substandard and require improvement. I will push the government to address critical areas, such as Galston Gorge and traffic congestion along New Line Road, to resolve these issues permanently. - Streamlining Hazard Reduction Planning
Planning for hazard reduction in the electorate has become overly complex and time-consuming, missing key opportunities to reduce fuel loads. This delay increases our risk during the bushfire season. I will advocate for greater autonomy for local RFS brigades to conduct small, targeted burns to better manage bushfire risks in their areas. - Revitalising the Hawkesbury River
The Hawkesbury River, forming the northern boundary of our electorate, has long been neglected by major parties. Once likened to Germany's Rhine, riverside residents deserve equitable access to resources. I will push for improvements in parking, ferry services, and recreational access to this vital state asset. - Completing Key Recreational Projects
It’s essential to ensure the completion of the Westleigh Park and Hornsby Quarry projects, which will provide important recreational spaces for our community.
Key Issues For NSW
- Empowering You Through Tax Relief
Reduce state taxes and duties to free up more of your money for essential needs, rather than allowing government bureaucrats to waste it through poor decisions and mismanagement. - Cutting Red Tape for Economic Growth
Slash red, green, and brown tape to unlock business and employment opportunities in Hornsby and throughout NSW. - Protecting Our Natural Spaces
Ensure our beautiful wild spaces, including National Parks and State Forests, are well-maintained and accessible for all Australians. - Streamlining Government
Keep the government small and focused on practical state issues, staying out of our daily lives and away from woke causes. - Eliminating Bureaucratic Waste
Cut the backroom bureaucracy that adds no value to our state but costs us billions. Redirect these funds towards frontline services, reducing our significant state debt, and providing tax relief. - Supporting Reliable Energy Investment
Create a regulatory environment conducive to investment in cheap, reliable sources of energy. - Reclaiming Control Over Health
We will empower you to take charge of your own health. We reject the overreaching mandatory COVID measures that have harmed our state, especially our youth. - Safeguarding Public Land
Modify the NSW Land Rights Act 1983 to ensure Crown land remains public and accessible to all. Ensure National Parks stay public and available to all Australians. - Easing Fishing Regulations
Remove recreational fishing licenses; families should not need government approval to cast a line. - Upholding Freedom of Speech
Maintain our freedom of speech and thought by eliminating fees for accessing government information.
